Preparing for College-Level Mathematics
Pre-calculus is a challenging third- or fourth-year math course that bridges the gap between algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Students strengthen their understanding of advanced algebraic concepts, explore trigonometry and its real-world applications, and practice analyzing functions, sequences, and limits using multiple approaches — numerical, graphical, and symbolic. Technology is integrated throughout the course to support problem-solving and deepen understanding.
At Bridge Tutoring, our tutors have completed College Board’s AP Summer Institute training, equipping them with strategies, resources, and tools designed to prepare students for success in AP Pre-calculus and beyond.
Pre-calculus
Pre-calculus offers an in-depth exploration of functions — piecewise, rational, exponential, logarithmic, polynomial, and more. Students also build a strong foundation in trigonometry, from conic functions to real-world applications with triangles. In Georgia’s pre-calculus curriculum, learners are introduced to alternative coordinate systems as well, including semi-logarithmic plots and polar functions.
AP Pre-calculus (on-level)
As Georgia transitions from offering both Pre-calculus and AP Pre-calculus to exclusively AP Pre-calculus, this intermediate course equips students with the full College Board curriculum while also preparing them for success on the AP exam.
AP Pre-calculus
AP Pre-calculus is designed to prepare students for college-level math by building a strong foundation in functions and their applications. Students explore polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, as well as parametric and polar functions. The course emphasizes modeling real-world situations, interpreting graphs and data, and making connections across multiple representations (algebraic, graphical, numerical, and verbal). By the end of the course, students will have the tools and confidence to succeed in higher-level math, including calculus, and will be ready to take the AP Pre-calculus Exam for potential college credit.
