Building math confidence one problem at a time . . .

Leila was a high school senior taking an asynchronous dual enrollment College Algebra course.  Although her high school provided instructor guidance, the course had no in-person learning element.  Leila struggled with the amount of content and the pacing.  Having been a strong math student in the past, Leila’s parents were concerned with her grades and the stress this course was placing on their daughter.  After scoring a 62% and a 65% on her first two exams, respectively, Leila’s mother reached out to find her daughter some math support.  

On day one, we worked on previous concepts and confidence-building.  Leila was a hard-working and strong math student.  The content was not the problem.  Leila needed support in prioritizing and planning (i.e., executive functioning skills, in order to manage) the workload.  After six tutoring sessions . . . and a lot of dedication on Leila’s part . . . her third exam grade was a 95%.  Way to go, Leila!! 👏

“My 17 year old daughter is utilizing Anna’s virtual tutoring services for support as she navigates a college online math course that is proctored at her high school.

Although my child has always been a strong math student, following Covid, and a few years with the absence of strong math instruction, she struggled with this course.
